The Golden Gates Gallop was started in 1986 by a local resident looking to raise money for charity through running. Fast forward 38-years and the event is still going strong!
The 5-mile two-lap race starts at the famous Napoleon “golden” gates before heading around the beautiful perimeter path of Elvaston Castle, including going up-and-down the iconic “gallops” before finishing at the race village at Elvaston Cricket Club.
The 2-mile family fun run takes participants on one lap of the Elvaston Castle perimeter path.
Over the years the event has raised thousands of pounds for Blood cancer UK and continues to do so. The post-race village provides a great family atmosphere with bar, refreshments, fundraising raffles and market stalls from local businesses.

Entries after 1st July 2024:
- £16 UKA Affiliated / club runners for 5-mile race
- £18 other runners for 5-mile race
- £5 for 2-mile family fun run
- Accompanying parents, carers and guardians FREE
- Please note an online booking fee will be added.
- £5 for all 2-mile fun runners
- £20 for all 5-mile runners (including booking fee)

2024 PRIZES
All participating runners in both the 2-mile family fun run and the 5-mile race will receive a GGG Medal, a running snood from HUUB plus some other goodies from local businesses too once you finish the run!

2-mile Family fun run is “just for fun” but a trophy will be awarded to the winning under 16 participant.
