The Golden Gates Gallop – A Race with Heart and Heritage
Born in 1986 from a local resident’s passion for running and raising money for charity, the Golden Gates Gallop has grown into one of Derbyshire’s most-loved community races. Following our record-breaking 40th anniversary, we’re back on Sunday 26 September 2027 for our 41st annual fundraising event.
Starting in front of the iconic Napoleonic “golden” gates, runners take on a scenic 5-mile, two-lap route through the beautiful grounds of Elvaston Castle, tackling the famous “gallops” before finishing at Elvaston Cricket Club. Our 2-mile family fun run follows a single scenic lap, welcoming runners of all ages and abilities.
Over the decades, the Gallop has raised tens of thousands of pounds for Blood Cancer UK, bringing runners, families, volunteers and local businesses together for a great cause.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, taking on your first event or making memories with the family,
Join us in 2027 and become part of the next chapter of the Golden Gates Gallop.
