THE GOLDEN GATES GALLOP

The Golden Gates Gallop was started in 1986 by a local resident looking to raise money for charity through running. Fast forward 37-years and the event is still going strong!

The 5-mile two-lap race starts at the famous Napoleon “golden” gates before heading around the beautiful perimeter path of Elvaston Castle, including going up-and-down the iconic “gallops” before finishing at the race village at Elvaston Cricket Club.

The 2-mile family fun run takes participants on one lap of the Elvaston Castle perimeter path.

Over the years the event has raised thousands of pounds for Blood cancer UK and continues to do so. The post-race village provides a great family atmosphere with bar, refreshments, fundraising raffles and market stalls from local businesses.
